War Practice?!

My Dearest Corwynne,
I too enjoyed our weekend near the sun as well. Probably the best weather for a war practice in years. Leggs enjoyed himself as well, but his enjoyment was different from that of the King. He enjoyed the idea of practicing for war very much. He laughed and laughed....He even asked if we need to practice breathing. War is not something you practice for you either fight and live or fight and die, what is there to practice? I decided not to mention that the fighters even practice dying. I think that would be too much for him.

The one thing he enjoyed without maing fun of it was the clothing. He is always worried that someone will see him while he is visiting and they will make fun of his clothes. If that were to happen, he would have to kill them and then he would be stuck in jail. (He has been watching some TV, and really doesn't like the idea of jail.) Luckily, I don't think anyone saw him at war practice either, because he has not mentioned anyone saying "Look at that loser, he thinks he is Legolas"

I have almost finished the Environmental Impact Study. It looks as though the sheep will have very little effect on the ecosystem and I will be able to recommend starting the Minas Tirith Transreality Import Export Program (MTTIEP) on a trail basis. I am sure it will be a great success as long as it is carefully monitored.
Anyway, you should have the paper work in a few days.

Work and Play

My Dearest Kendrah,

It was wonderful to see you and The Sons this weekend. Aragorn quite enjoyed himself, though he was terribly disappointed that Gregor didn't make it. I guess drinking beer with me just isn't the same. Aragorn was excited at the notion of War Practice in general...never hurts to stay in shapeand alert (he misses orc-slaying so!)He did better than I thought, though he was a bit confused when a well-dressed Tudor women commented that his coat was too "late" for the rest of his ensemble. He's now considering joining up and getting his authorizations to fight. He figures it's better than nothing. I'm not so sure that this is a good idea. I suppose we'll wait and see. He's been looking up SCA info on the internet non-stop for the past few days. Louis from work finally created and installed the filter that will block any references to Liv Tyler, so I decided it was safe.

Faramir would be delighted if you would take over the Environmental Impact Study. He looked kinda blank when I tried to describe what was needed. Budget-wise, we can put you on salary for six months and provide a graduate student assistant. Faramir is working on the contract now...it should arrive in the next few days.

We'd also be thrilled if yor mom would help out with the census and perhaps re-structuring of the the tax system. It seems the princes and other nobles got used to the kingless state of the land and are concerned about where their fiefdoms' taxes are now going and how they will be used. We wouldn't have gotten this far without Faramir, but gets a bit cowed by nobility sometimes, so it might be good to bring in an outside auditor. I'll have Faramir contact her sometime this week to discuss details.

OH! How are classes going?

Exporting Out of Reality

My dearest Corwynne,

Who ever would have thought that running a fantasy world would be so complicated? I was thinking about all the things that you need done to get MT up and running and I thought I could give you a hand. I could easily do the environment impact statement about the imported sheep for you. I know that Faramir has his hands more than full with the census.

Speaking of the census, I know that Faramir has been having some trouble with it and I was wondering if we should send him to talk to my mother about it. She has several years experience in the field and if you were so inclined she might be able to help implement a tax system as well. I am sure she would be happy to help out....going from imaginary door to imaginary door and counting imaginary people....seems right up her alley to me.

Well, let me know if you want me to start on the EIS.

More fun

My Dearest Kendrah,

I am relieved to hear that I will have fun when I take our trip to Henneth Annun. I am looking forward to it even more now. If I got a lot of tapestry work done, it must mean that I will have enough silk thread, which means our trade agreements with the Easterlings are working out! How exciting! Trade negotiations are always so complex, as we learned from Star Wars episodes 1 and 2. We also learned that trade negotiations are not very interesting so I will move on...

A reception, huh? Legolas had better be careful about the rumors he spreads. Tick off enough elves, the next thing you know, kin-slaying ensues.

Last weekend I went to the Maryland Sheep and Wool Festival. I bought a new spindle (very domestic of me...in a Gondorian house-wifey way) and scouted some sheep. I found several breeds that I think could be introduced into into ME without too much of a problem. My favorite was the Soay, a hair sheep and one of the oldest breeds in the world. Very cute. I also enjoyed the Icelandic sheep...very big with long wool. I think they would be quite picturesque wandering the swards and posing for the Noldor tourists. I considered purchasing a few, but the veternarian looked at me funny when I asked what medical clearance I would need to export them out of reality, so I backed off. I got cards from some breeders though, so I'm still thinking about it. I should have Faramir do an environmental impact study first though...don't want to do anything to imbalance the ecosystem...

Well, I must be off. Hope all is well!

Fun in Henneth Annun

My Dearest Corwynne,

I don't know if you have gone on our trip with the boys yet, but we went this weekend and had a lovely time. The weather was perfect and the boys were very amusing. They spent their time being manly. They made a lovely camp and then went hunting...All the while being sure to keep an eye out for orcs and other servants of the dark one. It really is kind of sad that there are none left for them to chase for days on end. Who knew that they would end up so desperate for something to do when their enemies were all destroyed? You got a lot of tapestry work done while we were there, so if you haven't gone yet, rest assured that you had a pleasant and productive time when ever you choose to go.

We got back to the settlement yesterday to find a wedding reception was in progress. It was complete with congratulatory banners and cakes....They even threw rice when we arrived. It took quite sometime to convince them that no one had gotten married, and once convinced they were not amused. They were especially upset with Leggs, as though he had some how lead them to believe there was going to be a wedding......What fun.

Any way, that is all the news from the settlement. Hope the white city is fairing well.

Rumors Indeed!!

My Dearest Kendrah,

It is amazing how quickly gossip spreads in certain circles. I am beginning to hear similar rumors whispered in the streets of the White City. Personally, I think Gondor could use a nice royal wedding, and the folks are so pleased with their new king, they'd be thrilled if he settled down and started producing heirs. I suspect the rumors will grow because people want it to be true. If wishes were horses...
I'm being a bit rebellious after my last Gladders encounter, so I'm perfectly willing to remain living in fantasy sin just to spite her! I'm willing to believe Legolas started the rumors, or at least encourages them. It amuses me that he pulled the old "thrift" line. It barely worked for Gertrude and Claudius, why does he think it would work for him??

According to the calendar, as best as I can tell, we'll be leaving any day now. Make sure you're packed and ready, you know how cranky the boys get when they're ready to go off on some adventure and the rest of the gang is lagging behind in hopes of second breakfast. And the latest weather report from Henneth Annun is warm and sunny, with mild, floral-scented winds,so it looks like it will be pleasant get-away.

I've not really accomplished anything use today and I have to go to a wine tasting tonight, so I'm gonna go run a report or something and pretend much was accomplished.

Take care. I'll see you soon.
